We are currently accepting qualified applications for a Medical Laboratory Technician to support one of our government clients at the BOP in beautiful Fort Dix, NJ.
Description of Services/ Qualification/ Credentialing:
  • The MLT will be responsible for Laboratory Technician duties including but not limited to:
  • Draw blood in open, semi-open and locked units, which will require direct contact with inmates.
  • Perform CLIA waived testing onsite (hemoccult stool cards, glucose finger sticks, urine dip, spin down blood) and enter results into BEMR.
  • Prepare specimens for packaging and transport according to Bureau Reference Lab instructions and deliver shipping containers to the central warehouse for shipment.
  • Make entries in the electronic medical records.
  • Maintain/operate the automated lab information system. ď‚·Call reference laboratories to resolve any issues with specimens and obtain results.
  • Keep the work area neatly organized, maintaining the needle/syringe inventory, and properly documenting lab request logs.
  • Perform minor clerical duties such as data entry, filing, scanning, scheduling of patients, record maintenance, contacting vendors for pricing information, and other general duties recognized as routine in a clinic.
  • Collect data relating to laboratory efforts (usage, types of labs studies, prompt receipt of orders and timely return of results by our contract labs, etc.).
  • Ensure that lab requests are completed properly and all reports are returned from the contract lab, provider notified, log results in as received, followed up appropriately, and scan results to the electronic medical record (BEMR).
  • Perform daily maintenance on laboratory equipment in
  • accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Health Services Manual and local policy and procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein, ensuring that the Laboratory Procedure Manual is updated accordingly.
  • Assist the HSA or his/her designee in the coordination of Bureau and Contract Reference Lab contact, CLIA recertification, maintenance of equipment and notification of needed supplies.
  • Work effectively with both staff and inmates in the performance of contract services.
Education and Experience:
  • Medical Lab Technicians must either have completed a Lab Technician Program or other approved program qualifying them to perform the duties of this contract at FCI Fort Dix.
  • Medical Lab Technicians must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • The MLT must also possess a current license or certification in their discipline, which allows them to collect lab specimens.
