We are currently accepting qualified applications for a LPN/LVN to support one of our Government clients at Hill AFB (Salt Lake City, UT).
  • A minimum of two years recent experience as an LPN/LVN.
  • Occupational health experience or similar skills and training with knowledge of physical examination programs and preventive health care programs are preferred.
  • Experience performing care and treatment of patients; operating and maintaining therapeutic equipment; properly administering oral and parenteral medications; conducting paraprofessional portions of physical examinations; or assisting in medical treatment of patients in accordance with established procedures and protocols, within the LPN scope of practice.
  • To assist as a team member during procedures.
  • As appropriate within established procedures, protocols and scope of practice, must have understanding of and ability to correctly utilize and/or apply; medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, psychology, pharmacology, medical ethics and legal concepts, clinical procedures, patient care; emergency medical treatment to include cardiopulmonary resuscitation, aseptic technique, specimen collection, diagnostic testing, prepare and administer oral and parenteral (excluding IV) medications, vaccination procedures, mechanisms of anaphylaxis and shock and their treatment; prescription drugs and their administration; operating and maintaining therapeutic equipment, risk management, medical contingency operations, computer operations in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.
  • Knowledge of instruments and diagnostic or treatment procedures commonly used in the OMS clinic to include electrocardiogram, extensive vision testing, spirometry, and mini-mental status testing.
  • Ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms including abnormal vital signs, and quickly react in emergency situations. Knowledge and skill in emergency first aid procedures.
  • Knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of test results, patients condition including injury/illness progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care.
  • Knowledge of normal and abnormal results to recognize and report obvious abnormalities.
  • Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, chemistry, and mathematics.
  • Knowledge of information management system sufficient to enter and retrieve occupational health data.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Outlook, and Internet familiarity is required.
  • Knowledge of operations of various microcomputer equipment and be able to input, retrieve, and format documentation.
  • LPN/LVN certification from an accredited national, state or military equivalent school for Practical Nursing.
  • Current certification in BLS is required.
  • Current certification in medication administration and immunizations is required.
  • Must have completed a spirometry course from an accredited, OSHA approved, training program.
  • LPN/LVNs must maintain certification by attending a refresher course every five years at no cost to government.
  • Familiarity with QI process is desired.
  • Comprehension of essential information systems such as, but not limited to, CHCS, AHLTA, and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access is highly desirable.
  • All five LPN/LVN must have a minimum of one year phlebotomy experience and must be certified by the American Association of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or the National Certification Agency (NCA).
  • Must have and maintain throughout course of contract, a current, active, valid, unrestricted license (with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions) to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) from a US jurisdiction.
  • License must be recognized and accepted by the State of practice in accordance with governing regulations.
