We are currently accepting qualified applications for a Neuropsychologist to support one of our Government clients at Madigan Army Medical Center (Ft. Lewis, WA)
 
Summary:  The Neuropsychologist shall provide services in accordance with established standards, principals and ethics of the profession in the Department of Behavioral Health at Madigan Army Medical Center (Ft Lewis) providing health care services to a diverse population.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position)
  • Responsible for the delineation, design and application of neuropsychological procedures and techniques for patient care, procedural documentation, consultation and organizational development, research, and educational training consistent with DoD, MTF, and American Psychological Association guidelines. Conducts diagnostic interviewing; behavioral assessment; psychological treatment of behavioral health conditions; psychological testing/neuropsychological testing for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological and neurological disorders. Activities may include, but are not limited to the following -
  • Maintains accurate and current notes in both the Department of Behavioral Health records and patient medical records of all patients seen, as appropriate, and produces reports of evaluation and/or treatment, as required.  Consults with medical personnel, legal authorities, military commanders and school districts, as required.
  • Administers routine or standardized neuropsychological tests.
  • Conducts neuropsychological evaluations for both Soldiers and Family Members utilizing cognitive personality, and neuropsychological assessment instruments and disseminates clinical conclusions regarding the psychological and behavioral effects of CNS dysfunction to the other medical personnel for use in diagnosis and treatment planning.  Neuropsychological findings and recommendations are considered in the Army Medical Department policy decisions regarding Service Members’ fitness to return to duty, retention on active duty and competency.
  • Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with MEDCOM directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required by the policy.  Ensure all documentation and reports are legible and complete. The HCP shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established standards of the MEDCOM to include but not limited to timeliness, legibility, accuracy, content and signature.

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
  • Be a graduate of both an APA accredited doctoral program in clinical psychology and an APA accredited internship in Clinical Psychology.  Have post-doctoral training in neuropsychology IAW MEDCOM Policy 15-044.
  • Be licensed as a Clinical Psychologist with a current valid, full and unrestricted license in one of the 50 states in the United States, and the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands. 
  • Shall have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).  Certification must be by American Heart Association specifically stating it is for healthcare providers and will be renewed every two years.
  • Shall have a minimum of  two years of experience working as Neuropsychologist or Neuropsychology Fellow in a US Army or DoD or other professional setting.  must complete Neuropsychological Assessment in both outpatient and inpatient settings, have special knowledge of neuropsychology testing procedures, neuropsychology laboratory management and neuropsychological research design. Provides Neuropsychological evaluations to include evaluation, assessment, report writing, consultation, and feedback.
  • Shall maintain all license and certification requirements and meet all continuing education requirements of the U.S. jurisdiction in which they are licensed to practice. 
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with all parties and other health care providers.  In addition, if the position requires the use of computers, the contract HCPs shall be computer literate.
  • Shall have the required education, training, experience and documented current competence in the required specialty position description. 
  • Shall possess sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity such that he/she can relate constructively to a variety of patients from diverse backgrounds.
