We are currently accepting qualified applications for a Physician/Nephrology to support one of our Government clients at Madigan Army Medical Center (Ft. Lewis, WA)
 
 
Summary: The Physician / Nephrology for the Nephrology Service, shall provide health care services in accordance with established standards, principals and ethics of the profession at Madigan Army Medical Center (Ft Lewis) providing health care services to a diverse population.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position):
 
  • The HCP shall provide in and outpatient nephrology consultation completing consults procedure reports and reports of other patient encounters utilizing existing documentation system.
  • Contract HCP’s shall be prepared to work as staffing dictates.   HCP shall be able to perform the following procedures:
    • Renal Biopsies
    • Acute and chronic dialysis
    • Manages complex metabolic problems
    • Therapeutic plasma exchange
  • Provides dialysis care including chronic outpatient hemodialysis, acute in-hospital dialysis, and continual renal therapy.
  • Performs procedures such as placement of central venous access for acute hemodialysis, renal biopsies, urine microscopy,
  • Orders and interprets laboratory tests, and radiologic images necessary to complete medical evaluation to include blood counts, urinalysis, sedimentation rates, EKGs, etc.
  • Consults with specialist in other fields when assistance is required to determine the best diagnosis or treatment.
  • Examines patients making diagnoses and administers appropriate treatment of patients with kidney disease.
  • The Contract HCPs shall work Monday through Friday, eight hours per day generally but not limited, between the hours of 0630 and 1700.  Two 15-minute breaks are included in each shift, and a 30-minute uncompensated lunch break is allowed.

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.):
 
  • The HCP shall have successfully completed a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from a school in the US or Canada approved by a recognizing accredited body in the year of the applicant’s application.  Graduates of foreign medical schools are required to possess both a medical license and other certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or 5th Pathway.  HCP must have successfully completed an accredited Fellowship training program in Nephrology.
  • Current MD license.
  • Minimum of 1 year as a board certified Nephrologist.
  • Shall have and maintain current certifications in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).  Certification must be by American Heart Association specifically stating it is for healthcare providers and will be renewed every two years.
  • Shall maintain all license and certification requirements and meet all continuing education requirements of the U.S. jurisdiction in which they are licensed to practice. 
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with all parties and other health care providers.  In addition, if the position requires the use of computers, the contract HCPs shall be computer literate.
  • Shall have the required education, training, experience and documented current competence in the required specialty position description. 
  • Shall possess sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity such that he/she can relate constructively to a variety of patients from diverse backgrounds.

  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions.  Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
