We are currently accepting qualified applications for a Physician/Pulmonologist to support one of our Government clients at Madigan Army Medical Center (Ft. Lewis, WA)
 
Summary: The Physician / Pulmonologist in the Pulmonary and Sleep Services center shall provide health care services in accordance with established standards, principals and ethics of the profession at Madigan Army Medical Center (Ft Lewis) providing health care services to a diverse population.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position):
  • Responsible for the examination, diagnosis and treatment of the full range of outpatients seen in the clinic sleep clinic and accurately documents encounters in the current electronic medical record within 48 hours of the encounter.
  • Performs a wide range of medical duties covering all aspects of disorders involving Sleep Medicine including patients with multiple overlapping problems.
  • Examines patients, orders and evaluates the full range of tests to include polysomnography, multiple sleep latency testing, actigraphy, sleep diaries, unattended sleep studies, appropriate radiographic, pulmonary function testing and laboratory testing when indicated.
  • Makes diagnosis's and prescribes appropriate treatments to include continuous positive airway pressure, bi-level airway pressure, oxygen, drugs or behavioral modalities.
  • Makes referrals to the appropriate clinics.
  • Communicates with patients, referring physicians and back to the appropriate primary care manager for management of disorders outside the specialty of Sleep Medicine.
  • Provides prescription renewal and telephone consultative services.
  • Provides recommendations or definitive evaluation for sleep medicine and breathing related disorders in the referral region through phone consultation, telemedicine, and authorization and evaluation of air evacuation patients as appropriate.
  • Periodically provides episodic care to clinic patients on a walk-in basis.
  • Serves as occasional consultation service for patients admitted to the ICU, or adult services.
  • Provider reviews, documents polysomnography and multiple sleep latency testing results to include recommendations for follow-up care as appropriate

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.):
  • Required to hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited graduate school of Medicine.  The physician must have completed psychiatric residency training program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.  The physician must be a Board Certified Pulmonologist and also Board Certified in Sleep Medicine.
  • Possess and maintain a current unrestricted license in any of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands and be able to obtain clinical privileges to practice medicine at MAHC.  Must have or obtain a current, valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number prior to performing the contract services.  Any change to the DEA requirements to obtain a valid DEA registration number is applicable when the incumbent's existing DEA registration expires
  • Notwithstanding AR 40-68, Paragraph 4-8a (or AFI 44-119, Paragraphs 4.2.1 and 4.2.5), personal services contractors must have and maintain a current, active, valid, unrestricted state license to practice medicine in one of the 50 states in the United States, or the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S.  Virgin Islands, as required to obtain or renew a DEA registration number under the then-effective DEA rules.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a board certified pulmonologist and Sleep Medicine physician
  • Shall have and maintain current certifications in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).  Certification must be by American Heart Association specifically stating it is for healthcare providers and will be renewed every two years.
  • Shall maintain all license and certification requirements and meet all continuing education requirements of the U.S. jurisdiction in which they are licensed to practice. 
 
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with all parties and other health care providers.  In addition, if the position requires the use of computers, the contract HCPs shall be computer literate.
  • Shall have the required education, training, experience and documented current competence in the required specialty position description. 
  • Shall possess sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity such that he/she can relate constructively to a variety of patients from diverse backgrounds.
