We are currently accepting qualified applications for an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner to support one of our Government clients at Madigan Army Medical Center (Ft. Lewis, WA)
 
 
Summary:  The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner work in the Department of Behaviorial Health’s Outpatient Clinic and Inpatient Behavioral Health and shall provide services in accordance with established standards, principals and ethics of the profession in the Department of Behavioral Health at Madigan Army Medical Center (Ft Lewis) providing health care services to a diverse population.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position):
 
  • Provides Psychiatric Mental Health Advance Practice Nursing care. Serves as a liaison and advocate for patients by assisting in coordinating continuing care for those with acute and chronic psychiatric problems.
  • Performs direct patient care to include - conduct psychiatric triage, performs psychiatric –assessments to determine appropriate diagnostic impression according to current guidance, formulates pertinent treatment plans and determines appropriate patient disposition (admission or outpatient care).
  • Administers and prescribes medications.

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
  • Graduate of an Associate, Diploma, or Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited school of nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). A Master’s Degree in Psychiatric Nursing, and board certification as such by the ANCC, or other recognized certifying body as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • Possess and maintain a current, active, valid, unrestricted license as a Psychiatric Mental Health Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Authority in at least one U.S. state, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory or Jurisdiction of the United States.  All Licenses shall be unencumbered and remain in effect during employment. Possess and maintain a valid, current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number. 
  • Minimum one year of experience in the past three years caring for psychiatric patients.
  • Shall have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).  Certification must be by American Heart Association specifically stating it is for healthcare providers and will be renewed every two years.
  • Shall maintain all license and certification requirements and meet all continuing education requirements of the U.S. jurisdiction in which they are licensed to practice. 
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with all parties and other health care providers.  In addition, if the position requires the use of computers, the contract HCPs shall be computer literate.
  • Shall have the required education, training, experience and documented current competence in the required specialty position description.  
  • Shall possess sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity such that he/she can relate constructively to a variety of patients from diverse backgrounds.
